Let’s get it are a rock/pop band from Dayton, Ohio. They fuse great vocal melodies with powerful and catchy pop/club instrumentations. They’re what you want to hear when your at a party when you wanna dance. Each song from these guys sounds different and has a unique quality which really stands out from the masses. It’s great to hear a band that don’t confine themselves. Let’s get it are fresh and a welcome change from a lot of music out there at the moment. Check them out!

A friend of ours is doing some research on the music industry, and wondered if you’d help her out. Here’s her message:

Hello, my name is Tara and I am currently in my 3rd year of Manchester Metropolitan University studying Advertising & Brand Management. I am writing my project about the Music Industry with a focus on the label EMI. I would be grateful, if ambitious artists like yourself would help by answering the following questions in a hope I can understand the current perception of consumers of your particular segment about the record label industry. Any additional feelings on the subject are welcome and appreciated.

Are you aware of any top labels, and if so do you know their position within the market in terms of Market share?

Do you think the artist has an effect on the label or the label on the artist?

When you like an artist, does who they are signed to effect your perception of them?

List what qualities/attributes/perceptions you think are important for record labels (E.g. facilities, equipment, A&R, artists signed to that label, popularity, financial state etc)?

Do you think there is a relationship between record labels and consumers?

What would your reaction be if the labels took a more front seat position within the music industry (developed a stronger relationship with the consumers of music)?

Time for China are an Alternative/Indie/Electro band from Manchester UK.

 ’Not confining themselves to any particular genre or style of writing, the songs are allowed to develop characters of their own instead of being forced like a square peg into a round hole to make them sell. The band are not afraid to be taken the wrong way by misguided critics who might mistake catchy for commercial. Definitely more refreshing than most of the current crop of bands, time for china are more interested in establishing their own original sound than becoming the next ‘Arctic Mancys’.

Fika is looking for a singer songwriter to play during dinner as a ‘troubadour’ on 14th Feb (Valentine’s day) in London UK. William describes himself as an indie/acoustic/folk rock artist. He is a multi-instrumentalist, completely self produced, and has a penchant for including such multifarious elements as pianos, banjos, melodicas, clarinets, flutes and electronic elements in his music. He often includes experimental, intimate and family subject matter in his writing. He has toured with Cary Brothers and toured and recorded with Ingrid Michealson, whose vocals are feature on his most recent album.
